MSc and Engineer in Food Science & Technology from ONIRIS (Nantes, France). Alain had a first career during 15 years as an executive in dairy, spices, fruits, food testing, and textile industries. In 2003, he became a consulting engineer, developing quality and safety systems, optimizing agri-food value chains, and enhancing competitiveness of SMEs and producer groups in the Asia and Pacific regions.
Dr Ana Batalha is a veterinarian with a Master degree in Public Health. She brings 25 years’ experience in the food safety field at national, EU and international levels. She was Head of the Veterinary Pharmacy Unit and developed the National Veterinary Pharmacovigilance System in Portugal. She joined the European Commission on 1996 to work on pharmacovigilance, EU policy and legislation and later on SPS bilateral agreements with third countries in DG SANCO.
As a Counsellor in the Permanent Representation of Portugal to the EU in Brussels from 2001, she was then responsible for SPS questions and food safety legislation during 7 years. She was then a Technical Adviser at EDES COLEACP (an EC SPS support programme), coordinating the interventions in ACP countries, and strengthening the official food safety control system.
Dr Batalha is a certified assessor of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE PVS Pathway tool) and has performed many OIE evaluations in Africa, Latin America and Asia. She is a Joint External Evaluation assessor for the World Health Organization.

PhD Veterinary Science. Dr Oddgeirsson is the Principal of Food Control Co, Ltd, an EU-based consulting company and the current Vice-President of International Veterinary Association. His experience in developing official food control systems spans over 20 years, both in the public service (UK and the EC FVO), within development projects (FAO, WB, EC, etc) and for private clients.
MSc from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. Daw Cherry is certified CIEH food specialist level3, as well as a SCORE trainer. She has several years’ experience as trainer in the fields of quality management, food safety, productivity and organization.

She has an industry career spanning 15 years in the food sector as quality manager in a brewery, and then as laboratory manager at the MFPEA food testing laboratory. She has acted as food safety specialist and trainer for UNIDO and for several private companies. Daw San San is certified CIEH food specialist level3, as well as a SCORE trainer.
BSc Economy, University of Leeds. Richard is a licensed lawyer specialist of SPS issues. His career spans 15 years in ODA projects as senior expert on TBT and SPS issues, developing legal and regulatory frameworks for agri-food products.

She has over 15 years’ experience working in the agri-food industry, having successfully hold responsibility as manager in food processing factories, food safety expert for UNIDO. She is currently quality assurance manager for a large distribution group.
Mr Glaud is an analytical laboratory expert specializing in advanced detection methods. He brings 25 years’ experience in developing competence and QMS in laboratories. He is also a knowledgeable consultant and trainer for food safety control systems.

After his MSc Zoology, Peter was during several years a researcher and lecturer. He then became the CEO of Biosecurity Australia, and finally ensured the leadership at the Food Safety Agency Australia New Zealand. He has in-depth knowledge on system approach of food safety and official controls, and is regularly called upon as Senior Expert for FAO, ADB and UN projects related to agri-food value chains.
